Questions about Employment

Q1. Could you briefly explain the company’s salary and bonus system?

Salaries are reviewed once a year (in April) and employees receive a bonus twice a year (in June and December). In addition, various allowances are paid, such as a commuting allowance, overtime allowance, holiday allowance, and family allowance.


Q2. What is the average age of the staff?

The average age is 42 years old.


Q3. What is the turnover rate at the company?

The latest available figure is 3% for the whole company. The turnover rate among new employees after three years is 0%.


Q4. Could you tell me the number of company holidays per year and explain the policy on paid leave?

There are 124 company holidays a year. They include Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, Golden Week holidays, summer vacation, and year-end and New Year holidays. An employee is granted 20 days of paid annual leave on April 1 of the first year of employment. Employees may choose to take leave in half-day increments (in the morning or afternoon) or in two-hour increments in accordance with the paid leave program.


Q5. Could you briefly explain the employee performance evaluation system?

Our employee performance evaluation system is mainly based on competence and performance. It is designed to foster a positive mindset among employees as they perform their duties. By fairly evaluating job performance and output and revising pay according to the results, we aim to build an open culture in which employees can grow as they work.


Q6. Could you explain your training programs for new employees and general employees?

After joining the company, new employees learn general business etiquette and company rules through the new employee training program. They are then assigned to different departments, where they are expected to gain the knowledge and skills needed in their particular field. Other training opportunities are offered according to career levels, such as early career training, middle career training, and management training.


Q7. What kinds of questions will be asked during job interviews?

Job applicants will first be interviewed by personnel department staff and managers in the relevant functional areas. The final stage is an interview with our executives. During interviews, you will be asked about issues such as what you have accomplished, what you have studied in your major, and what made you want to work with us. You are encouraged to show how eager you are.


Q8. Are employees subject to reassignment or transfer?

An employee may be reassigned to another department for job rotation.
In some departments, a transfer to the Kuze site or the SCREEN Hikone Plant is also possible.


Q9. Is there a company dormitory?

Employees may live in ordinary one-room apartments rented by the company in accordance with company rules.
Other housing benefits such as rent subsidies are also available.
